Numbers taught me about business. People taught me what really matters.
Why I became an accountant — and why I eventually needed to become something more.
I started my first business at sixteen. Since then I have built and sold businesses of my own, and spent more than twenty-five years advising entrepreneurs, family businesses, property owners, athletes and sports professionals.
The technical foundation
I qualified as both a Chartered Accountant and Certified Accountant because I wanted to understand business financially — tax, accounts, cash flow, performance, growth and value.
But as the years passed, I realised that the hardest challenges facing business owners were rarely technical. They were human.
The missing skills
Leadership. Decision-making. Relationships. Conflict. Confidence. Pressure. The ability to step back and see what was really going on.
So I trained as an NLP Practitioner and mediator. Not because I wanted more letters after my name, but because I wanted to understand people as deeply as I understood numbers.
The bigger picture
That journey led to WealthCentre, The Business Owner's Freedom Formula™ and eventually Finding the Joy Again.
Today, my work sits at the meeting point of business, life and whole-life wealth. I still care deeply about tax, compliance and strong financial information. But I care just as much about what the business is doing to the person who owns it.
Behind every set of accounts is a person, a family, a dream and a story still being written.
